Happy Valentine's Day

Wishing you all a Happy Valentine's day!  I will be spending my vday watching my oldest perform in the school play that she has been rehearsing for the past 3 months, I think it's going to be the best Valentine ever....

Cigar Party!

This past weekend was my hubby's surprise party, and because it was a surprise, I have NO before pics of anything, it was like planning a secret mission!!!! But it was a total success so keeping quiet served it's purpose!!!

First of all, it decided to SNOW...yes I know...didn't stop us...

His bday cake, I made those cigars, they are chocolate covered pretzel rods.

I found those napkin rings with the initial letters in Michaels.  

Each thank you bag had chocolate cigars in them. 

The watch box was another find at Michaels, we used it to put in memory cards, each guest had to write a memory of themselves and my husband, then my hubby had to read the card out loud and try to guess who wrote it...it was a lot of pressure on him, but really very funny :o))

I made this canvas of him, initial are his name, and on the pic it says, Aged to Perfection, I had another canvas for everyone to write a special bday wish for him

a birthday party for a special girl

This past Saturday, we had a special (early) gathering for my soon-to-be 7 year old baby girl.  My girls are growing up so fast. It's fun, it's scary and it's sad all at the same time.

An Overdue post

This is a severely overdue post. 

I am going to show you the progress in my younger daughter's bedroom, it's been done for over a month, just didn't get around to taking pics til recently.

The flower lamp is new - right over her bed - just in case she needs a night light...

My mom sewed the curtains, I don't know how to sew, I want to learn..

Her new tv, yes those wires will never disappear but most likely next year since the holidays are upon us now...

Ikea spice racks to store bedtime books...(still need to be sprayed painted...ooops)

see they kind of blend in with the wall color...I am not done in this room, I say I'm about 95% done

 I'm still in love with this desk....I do have to seal it though...another undone project...I"m not the only right???? please say I'm not...

and the garbage can - can it be any uglier....I need to do something to it....hhhhmmmmm

Remember the chair I painted, isn't it cute? used the same fabric as the curtains to cover it up, now if I can just put the finishing touches on it....like the buttons....bear with me people...thanks....

These dolls, bed..etc., are to be in the bookshelf behind her door (the bookshelf that I have yet to purchase - ahem - find on the curb garage sale. whatever works...

It's 95% done

I hope it'll be done by next summer (just kidding, no really I do hope that)

This kid is having a birthday in a few weeks

Christmas is in a few weeks

So the 5% will have to wait til next year....which will be in a couple of weeks.

Next post will have to do with Christmas, might as well show you that I am working on other things (not just sitting around reading blogs and neglecting my projects :)

Bedroom updates plus a new project! oh my

There have been some more updates to my youngest daughter's bedroom.  

I'll start off by showing you her new blinds, yeah not too exciting but it really is for me...see when we moved in, we kept the blinds that came with the house, hhhmmmmmm they were a tad small...but there were tons of other things to worry about...but anyhoot, since her room is being redone, new blinds were in order.....and so here they are....

Hubby and I were garage hunting, doesn't everyone do that on the weekends? okay moving on, so we saw this bed, a full size bed for $20? SOLD...

a little bit of paint later, okay a whole lot of paint later and TADA....

how pretty? really it shouldn't be this easy? well it's NOT easy but this pretty!  So, if you noticed I moved the chest, I love that this was done, and yes I'll give props to my hubby for suggesting it....Thank you honey!!!!

Oh yeah and because I can't just do ONE project at a time, while at this garage sale hunt, we found this a fireplace mantle, all we had was a glass covering on the fire pit "hole in the wall" so this was right up our alley...

Again, since I can't just do ONE thing at a time, I figured the wall of the stairs should get a make-over, in my defense, I was already thinking of this months ago, so I started to stencil it. Okay this is NOT what I wanted, it didn't turn out perfect like it's supposed to...I was going to paint it over and then hubby told me not to....so I listened

so what I did do what paint the wall - it was green - to this toasted wheat color and painted the fireplace cover black, it was gold, GOLD, what in the world...I did live with it gold for about 6 months! sheesh!!!

And because the stencil wall bothers me, it still bothers me, I had to start adding to it to  kind of hide the imperfections, am I the only one that does this? 

OH and my fireplace got a fresh new paint job with the antique white from my daughter's furniture renovation, and we SPLURGED lol, on the glass tiles to add a kick to the fireplace, I absolutely LOVE it....

Here she is all pretty for halloween....hhhhmmmmm NO this is not how it's going to stay...I bought a mirror to go over the fireplace, I changed the decor, and I have to take some pics after I hang my mirror, but I had people over this weekend so I had to dress her up!!!

So here is the beginning of I guess, my gallery wall of sorts, I still need a couple of items to hang up but I just don't want to do all frames...so I"m still on the hunt

 So it's NOT finished but this is the fun part....decorating it....
