An Overdue post

This is a severely overdue post.
I am going to show you the progress in my younger daughter's bedroom, it's been done for over a month, just didn't get around to taking pics til recently.

S-O-R-R-Y

The flower lamp is new - right over her bed - just in case she needs a night light...

My mom sewed the curtains, I don't know how to sew, I want to learn..

Her new tv, yes those wires will never disappear but most likely next year since the holidays are upon us now...

Ikea spice racks to store bedtime books...(still need to be sprayed painted...ooops)

see they kind of blend in with the wall color...I am not done in this room, I say I'm about 95% done

I'm still in love with this desk....I do have to seal it though...another undone project...I"m not the only right???? please say I'm not...
and the garbage can - can it be any uglier....I need to do something to it....hhhhmmmmm

Remember the chair I painted, isn't it cute? used the same fabric as the curtains to cover it up, now if I can just put the finishing touches on it....like the buttons....bear with me people...thanks....

These dolls, bed..etc., are to be in the bookshelf behind her door (the bookshelf that I have yet to purchase - ahem - find on the curb garage sale. whatever works...

It's 95% done
I hope it'll be done by next summer (just kidding, no really I do hope that)
This kid is having a birthday in a few weeks
Christmas is in a few weeks
So the 5% will have to wait til next year....which will be in a couple of weeks.

Next post will have to do with Christmas, might as well show you that I am working on other things (not just sitting around reading blogs and neglecting my projects :)

Oil-based paint - STINKS!

Not only does it really STINK but it stinks to clean as well!!!

Okay, now that that's off my chest, here is the ahem.....chest I painted with oil-based paint...a garage sale fine, going into my younger daughter's bedroom - as part of her bedroom make-over

You take one of these "famous" brushes that I've heard great things about all over blogland

and some of this stuff

and you do this....

and this...

and finally....this....

and when you're done, you realize that you do not have paint thinner to clean your new "expensive" brush and you want to cry, and then, you realize you have to leave this room cuz it STINKS, and on top of all that, you hope and pray that you did the right thing by painting this piece of furniture...tomorrow is another day, I hope that I LOVE the results.  I will keep you posted...

An Update:

My hallway renovation  has begun...well actually we're half-way there. I'm so happy with the results so far....check it out...

Starting the process...

Step 1: Paint...

 Step 2: apply wallpaper

Step 3: put up chair rail

  and more....

 and a little more...

We're still on step 3 because we need 2 more pieces to finish off my hallway/entrance. That should be taken care of today.

Tomorrow I will paint the wallpaper, chair rail, moldings, etc.,

Thursday, perhaps I can put my bench back in there so my kids can have a place to throw their book bags.

And Friday I can possibly just stand back and love it and then think about how I want to decorate it.   just that alone is all worth it!!!

Now, back to work I go!!!!

Happy Monday!

Guess what I have another project for you to check out that has actually been on the back burner for about 1 1/2 years.  Yeah I know, craziness!!!!

My daughter's room. We put in laminate wood floors.  We were dying to take off the ugly, nasty rug and replace it with something else, anything else!!!! So these floors hopefully will last a good 5 years until we can do the "real thing"!!!! Enjoy!

BEFORE:

what yucky carpet!!!

 AFTER:
So happy the old carpet is GONE!!!

Beautiful!!!

Let's be hones, I moved into this house 3 years ago (Okay next week it'll be officially 3 years) and I went crazy with COLORS. My girls wanted pink so here you go HOT PINK room. Now I want to tone it down.

I want to get my hubby on board to change the color. He looked at me like I have 3 heads.  I told him I will paint it all by myself.
I'm trying again today. Wish me luck. And if I get lucky then you'll see some updated pics of her new color.

I purposely didn't allow him to put all the furniture back in because I want to repaint.  I told him that it's because I want to look through all her stuff and get rid of some things.  Spring cleaning.  He was like ''hhhhhmmmmm sure" I have a bigger plan.

Again, wish me luck!!!

Free Rocks!

Do you craiglist?
Well I recently became obsessed...
First it was my fireplace cover...
then it was
FREE
ROCKS...
Remember I'm doing my patio? (well this wasn't actually for my patio but it did fit in with landscaping....)

So here are my free rocks:
Here 's hubby taking it off the truck
This is where the rocks are going to go
another shot

what a mess!!!! Hubby did it all, it's all done, well I should say the rocks are in place but the job is not complete...add this job to our list of incompletes...
I'm sure everyone has at least ONE incomplete job somewhere...(help me out here)

So an update on yet another project yet to be finished....
Tomorrow I'll show you how the rocks look all put together and what the plans are for this space.

Good night!

Weekend Update

We've decided to do a patio floor.  We've opted for pavers.  I know HUGE job, hubby isn't quite thrilled  since he's doing the work...we need some kind of patio, we put our furniture on this patchy ground in our backyard and after 3 summers, I'm over it.

Here he is measuring - we have to frame out the space

starting to dig so we can frame our area

this is really hard, since we have that tree, smack in the middle of our yard, all the roots make digging that much harder...

cutting roots....this bit of concrete that you see here is sort of an enclosed-patio that we have and it's great for when it's raining and such, but on a beautiful hot day, we put our patio furniture out so it's sort of extending this bit that peeks out....hopefully it comes out beautiful...

Oh and I wanted to share with you how my tables look in the bedroom with my new curtains

the sun was out and so the pictures do not look great and it's also on my phone so the quality isn't great

Just had to show my HomeGoods buy...luv that store!

So, thank goodness that the table and the curtains are all done in my bedroom. Now onto the next projects. I will keep updating you on the patio as we proceed....it'll be a long process but I know that I will be happy with the results!!!
